The Lake Erie District was Organized in  1981.  The Lake Erie AAU District is completely seperate from the rest of Ohio and is comprised of the twenty two counties (22) in Northern Ohio.  This includes the Counties of Ashland, Ashtabula, Belmont, Columbiana, Crawford, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Huron, Jefferson, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Richland, Seneca, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawus and Wayne.

THE REAL AAU

Every year thousands of travel basketball teams compete across Northeast Ohio and the United States, but most never play in a real aau event.  AAU only sanctions one event in each recognized State or District Across the United States.  In Northeast Ohio there is only ONE sanctioned AAU District called Lake Erie and the Lake Erie District holds only ONE National Qualifying Tournament.  Every other basketball tournament held in Northeast Ohio is non sanctioned travel basketball tournament and unaffilliated with the REAL AAU.  Don't be fooled, make sure your team is signed up and registered for the REAL AAU National Qualifier.
